It’s been a REALLY long time since I’ve posted, and this one will be quick. I’ve been writing finals (well, actually midterms) and my schedule’s been CRAZY. Wrote 6 exams last week, have written 2 so far this week, and I have 2 left (1 Thursday, 1 Friday). Can not WAIT to be done. I’ve never written so many exams in such a short time-frame EVER. I’m not sure they’re testing what we know so much as our ability to handle stress and memorize things quickly. But whatevs. I’m doing what I have do to get through dental school.
My workouts have definitely fallen by the wayside. There are some days I choose studying over showering. TMI? When I’m averaging 5 hours of sleep per night, showering and working out are not a priority. I did manage to get one workout in with my trainer last week – running on 3 1/2 hours of sleep and a liquid meal replacement because the stress has been making my stomach feel hideous.
This week has been better. Only 4 exams, so I’ve been sleeping more and not feeling so hammered by stress. I worked out with my trainer yesterday and will meet up with her again Friday. My eating is getting back to normal, but I’m still having trouble eating veggies. Blech – just not appealing. I’ve had to choke them down a couple of times, but am finding it a lot easier on the stomach to eat chocolate covered pretzels. 🙂 This is why I went with “mostly fit” in my blog name. Most of the time, things are good, and I make good choices and workout and feel great. Right now, things are haywire and I’m not so fit and my body definitely feels it.
Next week, Christmas vacation starts and we’re heading south. I am already looking forward to fantastic salads and working out lots and maybe getting a couple of swims in. I run outside in the cold sometimes, but I’m definitely looking forward to losing those many layers and maybe catching a few rays while I’m at it.
