I’m Joanne, a 35 year old mom of a 7 year old and 5 year old, dental student, wife, aspiring runner and triathlete who’s trying to lose weight, get fitter, be healthy, manage stress, and set a good example for my kids – multi-tasking mom, like so many others, I guess.  I’m Canadian and live in Saskatchewan – go Riders!  I hate mornings (A LOT), love chocolate, am (but more like used to be) a professional accountant, cook a lot, would like to bake more (except then I eat it all), love to travel, wish I could read more, and am sort of addicted to Diet Pepsi.

I’ve started this blog to discuss my weight loss and fitness journey, as a sort of online journal, and as a way to motivate myself to stick with my goals.  I’ve struggled with my weight ever since my second year of university, way back in the day.  Click here for my weight story.  At my highest (non-pregnant) weight, I weighed 188lbs – gulp!  I’m now well on my way to my arbitrary target of 130lbs (I’m 5’3″) due to a complete overhaul of my lifestyle, with a lot of support from my trainer and my dietitian.  Oh yeah, and my wonderful husband. :)

My target is arbitrary because I’ve been overweight for so long (15 years, give or take?) that I have no idea what my realistic “happy” weight is.  130lbs is within my so-called “healthy” weight range, so that’s what I’m aiming for for now.

    Very cool! I started blogging this year for the same reason – to keep me accountable. I also have a 6 year old and am on a journey to pass the CA bar exam and become a licensed attorney (so I am with you on the mom/academics/training thing).

    And I saw on your recent post that you are training for a half marathon. I just started my training to run my first half marathon in October.
